What a great end to the season. It was tight at the top of the first division with Sighthill B v Currie playing their last game with both in contention to win the league. Sighthill edging it at the end despite losing the match 4-5 and 67-71 shots. Congratulations to Sighthill B and still a great end to the season for Currie having being promoted from the 2nd division and finishing in second place.
Unfortunately, where there are winners there also has to be ‘losers’ meaning Slateford and Ardmillan are relegated to division 2 next year.
Gorgie Mills pretty much cleaned up the 2nd division losing only 1 of their games all season. That strong display ensured their division 2 title and will see them playing in Division 1 next year along with Colinton who finished 2nd in the league. Just like Sighthill, Colinton lost 4-5 to Juniper Green who were also pushing for a promotion spot. That result made the teams equal on 36 league points but Colinton claimed 2nd place with their shot difference of -7 to Juniper Greens -73. Nervy or what?
Along with their inevitable ‘bragging rights’ each league winner will receive £250 and runners up will receive £125 on presentation day assuming qualifying criteria has been met.
The 2026 knockouts are next and start on the 7th August. Finals/Presentation is on the 12th September at Sighthill Bowling Club.
